Seeing a month at a glance
Week by week, each side job looks manageable. A month at a glance shows where the weeks are wound too tight.
Draw the row
On paper or in a spreadsheet, make four columns, one for each week. In each, note the hours your job and home take, then the side work you've agreed.
Look for the full bobbin
Any week where little or no free time is left is a week with no room for surprises. Can a deadline move, or can you decline something new for that week?
Watch the pattern
If every month has one week wound to the edge, the side work is probably too heavy overall, not just badly timed.
Review once a month
Fifteen minutes at the end of each month is enough. Adjust before the next one starts.
